Google is one the most influential tech companies on the planet. Specializing in a variety of Internet-related services and products, they are perhaps best known for the world-class Google search engine. Today, however, one of their most lucrative products is the Google Play Store, a digital software distribution service.
Launched in 2008, the ‘Play Store’ was a direct response to the Apple App Store, which had gone to market just a few months earlier. It serves as the official app store for the Android operating system, enabling users to browse and download mobile apps and games developed with the Android software development kit (SDK).

The Google Play is one of the most popular mobile app vendors on the planet, offering 3,770,556 apps.
To date, 1,148,665 app publishers have published apps on the Google Play.
Of the 3,770,556 apps available on the Google Play, 532,373 are gaming apps and 3,238,183 are non-gaming apps.
3,652,527 apps available on the Google Play are free to download. Conversely, 113,723 must be purchased. Of course, it should be noted that many free apps may either offer or require in-app purchases.
